Student Dormitories
 
    Purpose

    Built in 1996, our dormitories aim to provide our students with accommodation, nutrition and the opportunity to study in a healthy, safe and clean environment. The dormitories aim to support our students in adapting to the conditions of communal living and to contributing to their success.

    General Information

    The student dormitories consist of 3 blocks which contain double and single rooms as well as double and single corner rooms. The dormitories have a bed capacity of 456.
    1 block is in the service of the male students, and the other 2 blocks are for the female students. There are rooms available for the students with disabilities.
    The rooms are covered with laminated flooring.
    All the rooms include bathroom, washbasin, toilet and 24 hours available hot water.
    The rooms contain beds with base, wardrobe, bookshelf, study table and chair, TV, mini fridge and armchair. The corner rooms also contain a kitchen counter.
    Every block has telephones on each floor which can be connected by announcement when dialed from outside the campus.
    The dormitory building and the rooms are cleaned daily. The bedlinens are provided by the administration, and they are changed biweekly.
    All the rooms have access to limitless wi-fi.
    The entrance to the blocks and the rooms are made via the card system and the facilities are monitored by the camera surveillance system.
    Male and female dormitory and security staff is present in the dormitories for 24 hours.
    There is 24-hours open study hall, a space on the 6th floor of each block which can be used for studying and social purposes.
    There is a studio especially at the disposal of architecture, fine arts and dentistry students. At the same time, the library in the campus is open every day until 23.00, and there is a 24-hours open study hall in the library.
    The dormitories are inside the campus, and the transportation to the city center is provided free of charge by the buses of the university.
    The latest time to enter the dormitories is 24.00 on the weekdays and 01.30 on fridays, saturdays and the official holidays.
    The dormitories have cafeterias where the students can choose between tabl d’hote and a la carte, ATM, pay phone, market, billiard hall, male-female hairdresser, masjid and laundry (there are enough washing machines, dryers and irons).


    Health Services

    Inside the dormitories, there is a student health center that is in service for 24 hours free of charge. For the images…
    The purpose of the health center is to provide the students with the necessary facilities necessary for the urgent medical conditions.
    After the first examination and medical intervention, which are totally free of charge, the student is sent to Başkent University Hospital in cases which require further examination and treatment. The expenses of the follow-up and therapy are met by the social security system to which the student or his/her parents are registered.
    Most of the medication expenses regarding the emergency treatment are covered by the university. The dental clinic found in the center is open within the working hours, and examination, as well as some operations, is free of charge.

    Registration for the Dormitories

    The students can apply for the dormitories after they complete the university registration.
    List of documents to be submitted by Turkish students to the Dormitory Administration for the final registration procedure.

    • Application form (to be filled by the Dormitory Administration for the new students)
    • A copy of Başkent University student ID card.
    • A copy of identity card with Turkish Identification Number
    • A certificate showing the permanent address of residence.
    • Newly taken passport photos (8 pieces)
    • Bank receipts related to the payment of the first installment of the dorm fee and deposit paid to Başkent University Account (IBAN NO: TR 2200 1340 0000 0796 9100 0011, Account no: 796910-360) through Denizbank-Başkent corporate branch (Branch Code 3010). The name and student number of the student as well as the identification notes such as “Dormitory Fee”, “Dormitory Deposit” should be indicated in the transfer. If the payment is made via EFT, the code sent to the phone number after filling in the application form should be indicated. Written certification to be signed at the Dormitory Administration for the payment of the 2nd semester fee.
    • A health report received from the healthcare institutions indicating the suitability of the student’s health to stay at the dormitories.
    • Medical reports concerning Elisa test (AIDS), Hepatitis B test (HBsAg, antiHBS, antiHCV), Tuberculosis test and blood group test.
    • Upon arrival for the final registration at the Dormitory Administration, the students sign a contract stating that they accept the dormitory rules, and the students are given one copy of the contract.

    • A copy of passport and residence permit document in Turkey
    • Newly taken passport photos (8 pieces)

    Dormitory Rules

    The rules stated in Başkent University Student Dormitories Regulations and the student contract is valid.
    The students are provided the student contract during the registration for reading and signing.
    If necessary, announcements are hanged on the boards.

    Dormitory Fees

    Dormitory fees are paid in two equal installments. The students enrolled for the first time pay the first installment at the registration. The continuing students pay the first installment during re-registration. The second installment is taken as a time bill dated for the beginning of the second semester and is encashed at due date. If the bills are not paid at due date, legal actions are taken. The fees are paid in cash during first registration and re-registration.
    Dormitory fees are determined at the beginning of each academic year according to the conditions of the time and they stay valid for the academic year. The dormitory fees cover accommodation, limitless internet access and cleaning services. They do not include services such as food, drink, etc.
    Deposit, which will be used in the cases specified in the contract and for the damages that might be caused by the students, is taken.
    Dormitory fees and time bills are not refunded to the students who leave the dormitories for any reason (see item 12 in the contract)
