Tofik Mamedov, azerbaijanian scientist, has taught introductory physics at Baskent University for last 5 years, where he is currently Professor of Physics.

T. Mamedov is graduated from Moscow State University in 1977 where he was at the sub-faculty by direction of N. N. Bogoliubov -the world-wide known scientist- and in 1985 received a Ph.D. in theoretical physics and mathematics from the Kurchatov Atomic Energy Institute in Moscow, at the laboratory of Y. Kagan, the name which also is well-known in modern physics.

Physics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan has special place on Mamedov’s life, where he occupied different academic positions until became a leading scientific researcher.

In 1995 T. Mamedov has been invited by TUBITAK to Turkey and during the following 5 years worked at the Department of Engineering Physics, Hacettepe University, giving lectures on “Fundamentals of Superconductivity” and “Mathematical Methods in Advanced Physics”.

His research interests are in the Superconductivity –one of the most intriguing and developing fields of Condensed Matter Physics and he has published over 25 research papers. When Tofik is not in the classroom or in his office, deepen in the investigations or answering to questions of students who regularly visit him, you can find him at the well- equipped university playing fields, or spending time with his wife Metanet and 9-years-old daughter Naringul.
