The whole island is a balcony to the Aegean Sea, with an outlook over Kithnos to the North, Siros to the Northeast, Paros to the East, Sifnos to the Southeast and Milos to the South. Leeward coasts embraced by steep rocks, almost all of them enjoying thick natural shade from salt cedars growing in the sand, with crystal blue waters, golden beaches and villages with small white houses are some of the island’s features that will make your holidays unforgettable.
We sailed to Serifos with 6 B NW wind and anchored in Livadi bay. The little harbour was full and we decided to stay on anchor for swimming. We dropped the anchor close to land around 5 m and put 60m chain. We swam, had a rest and went ashore to walk around in the town and took a bus to the Chora of the island. We came back 2 km by stairs and decided to had dinner before going back. We were at a small restaurant on the beach when suddenly Ana noticed that HB was too near to another boat...it was dragging!!!! We left our beers, run and reached HB (Hummingbird) on time. There was a strong wind with 40 Kts gusts and the chain has a hook stucked so we were desesperately trying to solve that. It was not possible to use windlass and it was also not possible to take  60m of chain up by hand because the wind increased very much in last 10 minutes. I was all trying to drag the anchor away from the other boat by full engine force but after few minutes the other big boat was pulling us to itself like a magnet...:) 1 hour long we were all trying to keep HB away from the other by the power of engine. Since the other boat without any crew was around 50m long, it was like a wall in front of us. There was no way to find a gap to escape from her. We decided to put 2nd anchor when I could take HB as far as possible from her. We did it but it was the reason of 2nd problem since the chain of 1st anchor and the rope of 2nd anchor mixed each other since we were all turning around our self.

Then, 3 guys appeared from that boat. I was all shouting and telling them that our anchor is stucked to their chain so, we can not go away from them. It was an alternative reason in my mind but later we realized that it was not the case. They could not understand anything but they came on board by their speed boat. They were French speaking crew and not understanding any word in English but fortunately they were strong..:) Only one of them could manage to take the stucked hook from our chain and also take the 2nd anchor out of water together with its rope which was all furled around the chain. ( Now i must say that it is very important to be very strong for safe sailing..:))

Then we could take our anchor and put it again close to land and drooped 75m chain. We thought the problem was over, the time was around 02:00 after midnight. When we were  prepared to rest, we noticed that we were dragging again..! It was much more windy. We anchored 5 times all night long until the sun rise. We put the anchor even in depth of 2.5m and 75m chain and it is still a mystery in my mind the reason why we could not stay on anchor as many other boats there..!!

Since i did not sleep at all, when the sun raised i've seen one boat leaving from the harbor. We went there for mooring. Now we are still here 5 days long since it is all terrible windy, 7-8 B sometimes and don't know when it will be possible to escape from here.
