APPLICATION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO UNDERGRADUATE
PROGRAMS FOR 2006-2007 ACADEMIC YEAR


The requirements for application, required documents, application date and place, other requirements and quotas for International Students who want to apply the undergraduate programs are explained below.

A. REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION
  • Being graduated from a high school in Turkey or from an equivalent school abroad.
  • The applicants with Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) nationality or with at least one nationality from TR or TRNC can not apply for admittance to the international student quotas of Başkent University.
  • Those having gold, silver or bronze award from one of the international science Olympics that TUBITAK (Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey) recognizes, can apply to the university directly.
  • Documents provided after the admission, by the students proving that the student is of TR or TRNC nationality, or descended from Turkish ancestry will not change their status. Students will be considered as foreign nationals untilt hey graduate.
  • For the applicants who will apply with YöS (Examination for Foreign Students) score, should have had at least 40 standard points from the 2005 or 2006 Basic Learning Abilities Test.
  • Candidates can apply with the scores of equivalent international exams (as shown below), besides YÖS.
  • A total score of at least 1000 from SAT 1.
  • At least 3 A levels in GCE one of which should be related to program applied.
  • A minimum score of 21 in ACT.
  • A minimum score of 80 points in all courses from the Tawjihi examination in the Scientific Stream (Jordan and Paletsine).
  • A minimum diploma grade of at least 13 in the Scientific Stream in Baccalaureate Libanais examination (Lebanon).
  • A minumum score of 500 from Gaokao examination (China).
  • A minumum Baccalaureate diploma score of 24.
  • A minumum score of 4 from ABITUR.
B. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Exam Result (YOS, SAT, GCE etc.): Attested copy of the exam result that is being used for the application, English Proficiency Test score original or attested copy.
  • High School Diploma: The original or the attested copy (Turkish or English). The original diploma and the "equivalence document" is required during registration. ("Equivalence document" , can be obtained from Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education, or from the Turkish Embassy)
  • Transcript: The document showing the courses taken and the grades obtained by the student and attested by the manager of the school (in a sealed envelope). The document should be translated and attested unless it is in English or Turkish and should be submitted together with the original transcript.
  • Application fee: For each application, tution fee is 50$ (+ % 8 VAT). The payment should be made to DENIZBANK Bahçelievler or Başkent University Branches, to account Number 3010-796910-361 and the bank receipt should be attached to the application form.
C. APPLICATION DEADLINE and PLACE
The required documents should be completed and submitted between 17 July and 14 August 2006 by post or in person to the address below.

D. EVALUATION
It is at Başkent University's sole discretion to review and rank candidates and to admit and place them within program quotas. Meeting the application criteria does not guarantee admission to the programs.

REMARKS
  • In Baskent University, the education fee is 8000 USD (+ 640 USD VAT) for the 2006-2007 academic year. The yearly increase in the tution fee will be limited to 7.5% of the previous year on the basis of USD.
  • Students who are successful in the "English Proficiency Test" administered by Başkent University at the beginning of the academic year or students who submit a valid and acceptable exam result from an equivalent test (TOEFL, IELTS, FCE, CPE) taken in the last two years, will be exempted from English Preparatory Class and will directly start their undergraduate courses. Otherwise, they have to attend a year of English Preparatory School.
  • Only female students are accepted to the Department of Nursing.
  • Students with an A or B level of Turkish can directly start their undergraduate courses. Students who can not obtain a minimum of B level from the "Turkish Proficiency Test" administered by the Faculty of Education have to attend the Turkish Preparatory Course in BUTOB.
